So since I sent in that entry to Julvett's Marauder's Generation contest last week, I've been itching to do another pic from that era. James and Lily - post Hogwarts obviously, married - in one of the three times that they "defied the Dark Lord". I've got them successfully (albeit narrowly) escaping Voldie, Bellatrix and Lucius. Again, I've been dabbling with a slightly different character style, and I used a British village scene as a reference for the background.
I'm considering this as a "Thank You" to Julvett for coming up with such a fun and challenging contest.
My husband walked in when I was coloring it in - I had James' face blown up working on his glasses - and he said "Grrrrrr...." I said "what?" and he said "He looks pissed or like he's growling" I said "you would be too if someone was trying to blow you and your wife up." LOL!
Oh wow, it's wonderful! Thanks so much for making this! It will have to go on my shoutboard. Really, I've always wanted to see a picture like this, but there weren't any, and I can't draw awesome actions poses like this one has. I especially love Lily's clothes and shoes, they look so 70's-ish, haha. Also I love the lighting you did on the Death Eaters- awesome. And the perspective and the shadows! This is definitely the coolest Lily/James pic I've ever seen.
**Blushes** Thanks! Yeah, like you said, there haven't been that many Lily/James action pics, mostly fluff or angst {not that there's anything wrong with that!! } . I've been trying to learn some new character styles and my husband has been ragging me on my perspective (or lack thereof) in my past work (he's a surveyor - so he's got that engineer-minded point of view) so I thought I'd up my game where that was concerned.
On the clothing - I'd been going through my late grandmother's things recently and came across pics of our famliy from the 70's, Lily and James' clothes were inspired by some of the outfits my older cousins were wearing (I found of pic of myself as a 5 year-old in bell-bottoms - ROFL!). Didya notice Lily's belt buckle btw??
Ah, you must be referring to me about the fluff pics I was actually going to comment on Lily's belt, but I don't know enough about 70's fashion to know the exact signifigance of it.
